The Yaya Village, located in Sululta, 11 kilometers outside the city of Addis Ababa, is the unique home to our Yaya Girls Running Program.
Established in 2009 by Joseph Kibur and three other shareholders including double Olympic gold medalist Haile Gebrselassie, the 4 star resort boasts a hotel, gymnasium, restaurant, steam/sauna room, in-house physiotherapy and massage treatment specialist, beach volleyball court, horseback riding accommodations, outdoor running track, and organic farm – all of which are available for both guests and our Yaya Girls to utilize. The village is located at 2,700 m (8,858 ft) and surrounded by mountains and lush, green forests, making the facility optimal for the endurance training the Yaya Girls will undergo during their 3.5 month stay as scholar-athletes.
In addition, the Yaya Village attracts guests from around the world, bringing the scholar-girls into contact with a number of successful and motivated athletes and professionals.
Most importantly, our facility provides a safe and stimulating environment in which the young women can challenge themselves and develop a sense of empowerment with the tools and support provided by our staff and specialized curriculum.
